Description:

This magnificent jeweled copper Tibetan trumpet is played for Buddhist preludes, processions, and morning and evening calls to prayer. Trumpets like these were used in ensemble playing, while larger ones (12 to 15 feet) are used in processions. It is the most widely used instrument in Tibetan Buddhist culture. The horn has a shallow cup mouthpiece that resembles the western bugle and is capable of producing different tones.

Attached below the mouthpiece is a Chopen, the pendant of the damaru, a victory banner, proclaiming the vanquishing of the four maras and the prison of samsaric mind. Consisting of a triangular header and a tail, it ornaments the simplicity and power of the trumpet and specifically sequences from blue (space-sky), white (water-clouds), red (fire-sun), green (air-vegetation) and yellow (earth-mountain).

The detail and craftsmanship in this unique jeweled Buddhist trumpet is absolutely remarkable.
