Description:
Master Nepali craftsman created this magnificent Green Tara statue, intricately crafted with carved lapis lazuli, coral, and turquoise.
The top part of the shrine, into which the Green Tara (female Bodhisattva of enlightened activity) is set, is a single carved piece of Himalayan crystal. Flanking both sides are dragons associated with protection, wisdom, and longevity. Above the dragons on either side are two Naga Kanya (daughter of the snake; adopted by Buddhists to represent the guardians of treasures, especially concealed teachings). At the apex of the shrine is the protector Garuda.
On each side of the shrine is a gem inlaid Kalasha (Treasure Vase) representing the primordial waters of creation, the soul filled with love and compassion, abundance, and hospitality. At the rear, carved in lapis lazuli, coral and turquoise, is a double dorje (or vajra) representing the foundation of the physical world.
The detail and craftsmanship displayed in this unique masterpiece is remarkable.
