Description:
This Vajrakilaya copper statue has silver-plated accents, and coral and turquoise inlay details.
The unique iconographic feature of Vajrakila (or sometimes Vajrakilaya) is the three-sided phurba that is held, pointed downward, with the two principal hands at the heart. Typically Vajrakila has three faces, six hands, four legs (in this instance fashioned as the three-sided blade of a phurba) and wide outstretched wings behind. He embraces the consort, Dipta Chakra, who has one face, two hands, and two legs. Her arms are extended out and she holds a skull cup and a flaying knife (or chopper).
This is a three-piece statue: the prahba (halo) behind the main figure securely sets into two openings in the base, as does the main figure.
